Greenspoint District Works to Make Area Greener

New Movie Theater Coming to Greenspoint Mall

The vacant JC Penny building at Greenspoint Mall has been demolished and construction of a new 20-screen Premiere movie theater will begin this summer. The theater should be open to the public in spring 2011. Click here to see a photo gallery of the demolition.

The Sam Houston Parkway’s westbound Imperial Valley exit will be closed Saturday June 12, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. The outside lane between West Hardy and Atrium will also be closed to place a storm sewer across Hedgecroft.

A team of volunteers descended on Thomas R. Wussow Park and spent the day landscaping, painting and installing a new sign near the playing field. Despite the heat and hard work, they managed to have a whole lot of fun.

Management districts often focus on beautification and public safety. But the Greenspoint District is adding something new to its agenda: sustainability.
