Water Line Installation: Greens
Road
Continue to expect temporary lane closures along
Greens Road, from Interstate 45 to West Hardy, as a result of an $8.8
million project by the City of Houston to convert the Northwest Harris County
area from well water to fresh water.
Crews have been installing a fresh
water line to connect the Northeast Water Purification Plant at Lake Houston
with northwest Harris County and the project will affect roads along the way.
Eventually, the project will supply water to northwest Houston residents and
businesses. This portion of the project is expected to be complete the
first quarter of 2006.
Construction is now under way between
Greenspoint Drive and Imperial Valley, and from Wayforest Drive to
West Hardy. During this phase,
commuters can expect frequent lane closures through this fall.
Expansion: Hardy Toll
Road
Beginning in September, commuters on
the Hardy Toll Road can expect to see the beginnings of an
18-month, $18.7 million, Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA) project to
add a third northbound lane from Sam Houston Parkway to FM 1960. The project
will also include resurfacing all lanes, both northbound and southbound. Traffic
issues should be minimal as work will rotate, keeping lanes open during peak
times.
Don’t get stuck in traffic!
